The Church of Peter and Paul is located opposite the Holy Gates of the Suzdal Pokrovsky Monastery. It was built in 1694 on the low meadow side of the Kamenka River, on the territory of Nikolskaya Sloboda, which belonged to a monastic monastery.

The Peter and Paul Church was erected in accordance with the innovations of Patriarch Nikon, who persistently planted the "consecrated five domes". Metropolitan Hilarion of Suzdal, who became famous for his pious life, watched over the execution of the temple-created canons.
In 1712, by the "diligence and diligence" of Evdokia Lopukhina, the former wife of Peter I, a winter church of St. Nicholas... Together they formed an ensemble of "paired" temples and organically blended into the landscape Intercession monastery.
The architecture of the Peter and Paul Church
The size of the Peter and Paul Church resembles a cathedral. The square monumental building is covered with a large closed vault topped with five onion-domed drums. The plane of the roof from the plane of the walls separates the cornice of semicircular kokoshniks and curbs. The facades of the Peter and Paul Church are divided by narrow vertical blades, between which there are windows decorated with platbands with pointed arches. From the east, a semicircular apse adjoins the main volume of the building, from the west - a one-story porch, and from the north - a chapel. There used to be a bell tower at the north-western corner of the porch, but after the 1917 revolution it was demolished... The belfry was a cube, finished with an octahedron with a wide tent.
However, this bell tower introduced some asymmetry into the ensemble. Unfortunately, the interior of the temple has not survived either. The internal walls and vaults of the church were decorated with stucco frames in the Baroque style, painted with images of biblical subjects.
